Making the decision to breastfeed comes with many benefits to both you and your baby! It can be beneficial to begin learning about breastfeeding during your pregnancy so that you will be prepared with confidence and knowledge once your little one is here.

I offer a private in-home Breastfeeding Preparation Session which includes:

Providing you with information about the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding/chestfeeding
Demonstrating various positions you can use to feed your baby
Sharing information on how to know if baby is getting enough milk
Discussing the best ways to establish/maintain your milk supply
Encouraging you to ask any questions you may have to ensure you are left feeling prepared to begin breastfeeding your little one(s)!

I have successfully completed training based upon the footprint of the World Health Organization/UNICEF Breastfeeding Counseling Training Course; have passed a criterion-referenced examination administered by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP); and have demonstrated the clinical competencies and skills required to provide safe, evidence-based counseling for pregnant, lactating, and breastfeeding women. My scope of practice includes the ability to:

Counsel and educate pregnant women and families regarding breastfeeding.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of parent and child related to breastfeeding and human lactation.
Develop evidence-based care plans.
Work collaboratively within the health care team.
Assess the needs of parents and babies who are at risk of, or currently experiencing, lactation difficulties. Providing follow up care and triaging referral to other care providers as needed.
